Hello!

I am excited to run for the open Ward 7 Newton School Committee seat. My family moved to Newton from Boston two years ago so that our children would have the opportunity to attend schools with academic excellence and a history of strong inclusive practices in a vibrant community. I have four very diverse learners, including a son with multiple disabilities, and I am a passionate advocate for the public school promise of educating ALL students to their highest potential. I believe all students have a right to thrive and I will keep students at the center of decision-making if I am elected.

I have spent many years on boards for public and private schools, including the Governing Board of one of the most successful public schools in Massachusetts. In these roles, I have experience in evaluating school leaders; establishing election to work agreements with teachers; budgeting; rigorous analysis of student assessment data and subsequent interventions; and supporting substantive professional development for teachers, administrators and staff. My professional background includes organizational development, talent management, leadership development, recruiting and consulting in the tech sector.

As your representative on School Committee, I will:

  • Ensure decisions are laser-focused on what is best for kids

  • Measure student outcomes and make the changes necessary for all students to thrive

  • Foster strong family-teacher-community partnerships so that our children are living and learning in resilient and caring communities

  • Work to close achievement gaps and support historically under-served students

  • Communicate with families and the community with transparency and accountability
